During his administration, Governor Hodges worked hand-in-hand with North Carolina Governor Mike Easley on a variety of regional issues including air quality. They held a Governors' Regional Summit and devised a joint strategy to address smog, acid deposition and haze. Hodges also worked with the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control on an effort to address water quality by negotiating an agreement with North Carolina regarding that state's wastewater discharge policies.
