Hodges Appointed to NBPTS President's Roundtable October 13, 2005 Columbia, S.C. - Jim Hodges, former Governor of South Carolina, was selected to serve on the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) President's Roundtable. The advisory group includes distinguished members from across the country including Edward B. Rust, Jr., Chairman and CEO, State Farm Insurance Companies; Robert Ingram, Vice Chairman, Pharmaceuticals, GlaxoSmithKline; and Charles B. Reed, Chancellor of California State University, among others.
NBPTS President's Roundtable members share a commitment to accomplished teaching and come together annually to discuss pressing issues concerning National Board Certification.
The National Board for Professional Teaching Standards is an independent, nonprofit, nonpartisan and nongovernmental organization governed by a board of directors, the majority of whom are classroom teachers. Its mission is to establish high and rigorous standards for what accomplished teachers should know and be able to do.
